An Unexpected Day

... and then, just as we were pulling into the decent-sized, level parking lot, Jerry calmly said, "I don't have any brakes.  The pedal is going straight to the floor."  Well, phooey.

Jerry did all the first-aid things: crawling under to examine the problem, finding a broken and leaking brake line, hauling out the toolbox to try over and over to crimp the line.  Phooey.

A call to AAA revealed that we didn't have the right kind of membership to cover road service to the camper.  Who knew?  Well, I guess people who read the fine print know.  Phooey.

We called our insurance company.  Over an hour later, they had stopped sending 10-minute-interval texts saying they were working on the problem.  Phooey.

We called around ourselves, found someone who could/would tow us back up the twisty-windy-curvy road to Forks.  Found someone else who could/would fix us (we're still hoping for the best on that one).

hooked up and ready to roll

We made an appointment for Monday (this was Friday) and were towed into this "campground" - OK, a pretty new, unestablished RV park.

We have power and water.  Someone nearby spends hours practicing songs on a native flute.  It's a delicious sound. We have a locally-loved mom and pop burger place across the road.  You think we didn't have a dinner-and-a show date? When we have power and feel like indoor entertinment, we're working our way through a three-season dvd set of "Beauty and the Beast" from the 80's. Good always triumphs over evil, accept others for who they are not what they are.

Not the most beautiful campsite, but we are three blocks away from the repair place.  Our plan is to be up and out early-early Monday morning and emergency-brake-limp our way down to the repair place to wait for them to fit us in.

we have the whole place to ourselves

My "I'm so thankful..." list is so, so long.  It continues to grow.  God has protected, provided and reassured us.  God is good.  (We are trying very hard not to moan about losing our new green camp chair. )
