A Book of Days Day

Palm Sunday and lobster rolls will forever make sense to us.

We keep a Book of Days.  In it we write special occasion days, like birthdays, anniversaries of things, first this and thats, magical and blessings days.  Today will be in our Book of Days.

We went to church in a beautiful little Episcopalian church, right on the waterfront in Provincetown.  We were a few minute late, because the only parking we could find for our camper van was at least a mile away.  We weren't expecting that!  But the service was lovely, we each received a palm, and left feeling fed and blessed.  Nice.

We met a white-haired woman on our trek back to the parking lot who responded to our "Good morning!"  She said, "Oh, is it Palm Sunday?  I'm in the middle of moving and I forgot."  We gave her one of our palms and God blessed her, which she returned with warmth.  Nice.

We were met by a young man in the parking lot who was waiting for us to return because he just had to see our van.  He'd converted a regular van, but was awestruck at our facilities, storage, and all that was fitted into our little turtle shell.  We enjoyed that short interchange.  Nice.

We spent the afternoon visiting area Cape Cod beaches, many held by the National Park Service.  At one beach, we. saw. whales.  Whale backs and whale tails and one good, showoff backflip.  Whales.  With our own eyes.  We celebrated with Nathan and his crew when they arrived in the parking lot and spotted us with our binoculars.  "Did you see that???"  There were so many smiles as we relived those moments.  Really nice.

We finished our day on a quest for lobster rolls - in an East Coast Bucket List kind of celebration.  The first lobster rolls of the trip.  We drove half way down the Cape, found a shop open, brought them back to the campground, and settled in, just as the rain began.  So nice.

Today will go in our Book of Days as Whale Day... but we'll always remember it as a day with so many gifts.  Nicest. Of all.
