What's with my name?

Guess what?  We already have a question!  Colette wrote and asked, "... Really enjoyed reading about her and meeting her on her birth day! Cozy, warm, homey name- how did you choose it?" It's a great question, Colette!

Essi is a derivative, primarily Scandinavian, of the name Esther.  In Persian, Esther can be translated as "star".  Besides being a fun, friendly name, Essi was named after the Esther in the Old Testament.  I love the story of Esther.  In a nutshell, Esther won a "competition", became queen of Persia, and saved the entire tribe of Israel.  There is a lot more to the story, and many life lessons, including the importance of prayer and fasting.  But the bottom line is that God's plan was in place long before Esther ever knew it, and she was willing to answer God's call when it came.  A treasured verse from her story is,

And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom
for such a time as this?  Esther 4.14 ESV

It seemed to fit Essi's situation, and mine as well.  Who knows whether we are positioned in our time and place, given our own unique set of talents and thoughts and gifts,  as part of a larger plan?  Honestly, it is pretty humbling and plenty exciting to imagine that God could actually use me.  Or my knitted doll Essi.

We are looking ahead to a clump of very hot, very humid days, and we are deeply grateful to be positioned in a tree-surrounded, peace-filled, air-conditioned home.  Our trees look so inviting on hot, muggy days, but it is very, very buggy in the woods!

Extremely hot, humid, overcast summer days are not our idea of outdoor bliss.  A huge thank you to those who work outside during  heat waves.  Bless you.  Essi and I will head to the studio and make things.  And be grateful for the cool.

Thank you for visiting.  See you next week!
