A Coastal Week

Returning to the coast, we found a campground that looked great on paper.  It was on the coast, small-ish, and had decent reviews.  Sure, let's have a look.  Google Map LucyLoo led us to the Shelter Cove Road with no problem.

Once we were on the road, we weren't convinced it was an actual road.  Steep.  Hairpin turns. Narrow. Bumpy.  Few pull-offs.  Steep.  Long delays.  Roadworkers were trenching and their work hadn't been patched yet.  The turtle sank into those pits with crashes and groans.  So steep, we could smell our brakes. Jerry is a very good driver.  Ask him about that drive sometime.  It's an easy conversation starter! ha.  We don't have any photos of the drive there.  Camera girl was holding on to things.

The General Store  on the hill a mile before the coast had a sign: Stop Here. Cool your brakes, wet your whistle.  We didn't think it was funny at the time.

The campground was next to empty.  We had trouble relaxing there for some reason.  The ocean was right there.  The little deli provided the rare treat of a couple of take-out meals.  We were so glad we'd come, but were ready to move on.

Notes for us to remember: interlopers, deer, our last shindig, feral children, landing strip, laid back, "a day of peace", a wall of rv
